Using One Note to enter text in excel with Tablet PC

I really like the OneNote fuctions with the Tablet PC but no one can seemed
to tell me if I can use the handwritting recognition software to enter words
into excel. Does anyone know if this works before I go and buy a Tablet PC?

What I want to do is use the spreadsheet I have created to input both
information from a drop down menu as well has names/notes that I handwrite
into the excel spreadsheet.

Yes. The Tablet PC's Input Panel does just fine with Office 2003 products.
Your pen becomes the controller of your cursor on a Tablet PC, just like a
mouse would. There is even an update for the context tagging (the program
waving to the TIP to let it know it'll take input) which Microsoft issued
last December. With Office XP, and an add-on pack which is available, is
workable, but not as good because it came on the market long before Tablets.
We have a Tablet PC public newsgroup: microsoft.public.windows.tabletpc, if
you have specific Tablet PC questions. This newsgroup only supports the
OneNote program itself.

If you are not prevented from using a regular news reader program (Outlook
Express comes with all Windows installations), you may want to set it up for
a news account, and connect with the msnews.microsoft.com news server where
you can have access (free!) to all Microsoft's newsgroups. There is no
logon, no password. OE, for instance, allows you to tag your own posts
(even in color) so you can follow them more easily, plus view by Hide Read
Messages so you don't need to hassle with digging through things, even Watch
Conversation if you find some interesting subjects.

If an application doesn't natively support the Tablet PC, the Tablet PC has
the Tablet Input Panel (TIP) which allows for entry of text in any text
field.

You put the insertion point (or press F2 in Excel) and then the TIP
appears. You write your data, confirm the conversion, and the converted
text is then inserted where the insertion point is.
