Using Option Buttons in a word document

Hi I have a an 8 page word document to whic I have added
about 140 option buttons, there is no code behind them
they are purely ther so I can see that users have
consiously made chose an option. The trouble is since I
have added these option buttons the .doc (892k) is really
slow to open.

Also can any one help me with closing the desing mode as
it always opens in desing mode.
