Using other alphabets with Word X

Hello,

I have my Mac configured to use different alphabets by making a choice from
the input menu on the menu bar. Neither Word nor other Office applications
recognize this menu. Is there a method I can use to allow Word to accept
input from other, non-latin alphabets?
