Using Outlook 2003 to receive Exchange 2000 email through a VPN co

I recently upgraded our Office software to the 2003 Pro version. When our
employees are on the road, they use a VPN to connect back to our network.
This enables them to operate on our network as if they were in the building.
However, since I upgraded Office, they cannot connect to the Exchange Server
through Outlook to receive their email.

Any suggestions. Thanks. J.R.
