using outlook with Yahoo and leaving messages on server

I use Yahoo mail and leave my emails on the server so that I can
access them from anywhere.

My problem is that I use outlook at home and every time it checks for
email it gets thousands of messages which it tries to d/l again.

Is there any way of leaving my messages on the server but not have
outlook constantly trying to d/l them again and only d/l new emails?
