Never heard of. Any reference for this program?

Yes and No.

If that device presents itself to the OS as a mouse-type device, you
should be able to "write" in OneNote as if you had a Tablet PC. However,
the ability in OneNote to convert the handwriting into text is provided
by the Tablet PC OS, not by OneNote itself.

What that means is that unless the Pegasus system does that conversion
somehow for you, your handwritten notes will not be able to be treated as
text.

This question has come up several times over the years, and no one AFAIK,
has come back and confirmed one way or the other what capabilities the
Pegasus system provides if used on something other than a Tablet PC. If
you decide to purchase it, please report back how it works!

I don't have the Pegasus so I can't help you. There are likely no menu
items in OneNote to make ON aware of the Pegasus system. If the Pegasus
system is basically a fancy "mouse" then there would not be anything
needed in ON to make it work in ON. If you can draw with a mouse in ON,
then you can "write" with the Pegasus in ON, subject to the limitations I
mentioned earlier.

Sorry I can't be of more help; I've never used PEgasus.

I've never seen anything on that company's website to indicate if Pegasus
does *handwriting recognition* before/during/after it inserts the data
into OneNote. If the HWR isn't an important feature, then any external
digitizer/tablet would work in OneNote, and the Pegasus/ON combination
isn't inherently unique or valuable.

I checked the webiste xTenn pointed too.
I just detected that I seem to have this "PC Notes Taker" thingy <g>.
Bought it at a supermarket but a longer while ago but hardly ever did
really make use of it. It was too clumsy.

I uninstalled the software from my desktop and still have it on my old
Notebook (sitting on charity) but I do not have OneNote installed
there.

I may test it next week or so.

Did you download the latest software?
The "OneNote Note Taker" seems to be part of "Pegasus 2.2", not so "My
Script Notes".

The writing from the mobile notetaker does come across as colored ink, not a
static image. True, in line with an external digitizer, with the caveat of
being mobile away from the host pc.

Is that Ink (note the capital I) or just mouse scribblings? That's the
pertinent question...

From what I remember from having used the Pegasus "PC Notes Taker"
(with software 1.7) - ways before I came across OneNote and put aside
a long time prior to having got my TabletPC - it was "ink" (no idea on
what "I" vs. "i" might mean in so far <bg>).
It was *not* just "mouse scribblings", definitely <!>
It appeared in Outlook f.e. and in Word as I later saw ink input on my
Tablet. The quality was not too good, however, and - honestly
speaking - for me it seemed just to be "too primitive".

Unfortunately - contrary to what I had said yesterday - I can not do
any tests because the thing has just given up to work meanwhile. When
connected it's still recognized as an input device and the software
says that it is connected, but there's no reaction on using the pen.
Could be that over the long time just been hanging around in the
garbage corner of my office the batteries got empty ...

"Ink" with the capital "I" refers to the specific data type supported by
and only available on the Tablet PC:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/windowsvista/aa905027.aspx

Whatever ON does with the handwriting input is only possible via the Ink
support in the OS. ON otherwise treats mouse input - whether from a
mouse, external Wacom tablet, or trackball - as a drawing which cannot be
converted to text, etc.

Hi, I just saw this thread. I am a deaf student. I have an ultra
mobile computer that I use during the day at school, but I cannot give
that to a note taker for taking notes for me obviously.

I was wondering if anyone used this product and would be able to tell
me how it worked out for them. I am thinking of giving it to the note
takers so that I don't have to deal with tons and tons of carbon copies
of notes.

The fucntionality to connct to OneNote seems to be useful in the world
of school.

Thanks for any help.

I have onenote 2007 on my ultra mobile, but that does the notetakers n
good. None of them has a tablet and I'm not about to 'loan' mine t
them for this task. The Mobile NoteTaker from Pegasus gives me th
ability to give a notetaker something they can use easily (and I'
afraid even this will stress some of them out).

Yes, they have FM systems, but this doesn't help me either. I hav
been given permission to webcam video tape the ASL interpreter so tha
I can sync that up with my notes, but that becomes yet anothe
difficult task.

Thanks for the advice though. I wish more students were technicall
savvy (and I'm a math major!).

Have you ever tried to type mathe equations and graphs quickly during
lecture? They don't tape our lectures and it would do me little goo
as a deaf student.

Thank
