Using picture to play video

I would like to use a picture to play a video file. Simply put, I have a
photo of a image that represents and idea that I have imported into my
presentation. I have a video that expresses a simialr idea with sound and
moving images that I have also imported into my presentation. What I would
like to do is show the .jph image on a slide with its supporting text, and
when I click on the image, I would like the video file to play in the same
area (covering the .jpg image).

How can I link the photo image to the video and animate it in this way?
(Using Micorosoft Office 2003 software)?

I think that the easiest way to do this is to fake it. Create the slide
with the picture. Make a copy of the slide (Insert > Duplicate Slide). On
the duplicate slide, delete the picture and insert the video, setting it
to play automatically. Now go back to the original slide and set the
picture to hyperlink to the duplicate slide.

Cool. I didn't realize that triggers could be used to start videos. As it
turns out, if you insert the video and have it start on click, it
automatically sets it up to be triggered by a click on itself. However, you
can change that to be triggered by a click on something else. That
something else could be a picture that sits on top of the video. Because
videos always play on top (usually, annoying, but just what is needed in
this case), if you start the video it will jump on top of the picture. This
is will work in 2002 and above, so if you use 2000 or below, you'll have to
use the lame method that I suggested.
