Using pivot tables to group records (with daily transactions) bymonth

I have a table of data that I need to trend by month. The records are
of daily transactions.

No Date Sale
1 2/3/07 44
2 2/6/07 55
3 3/5/07 66
ETC

Is there a good way to group these records by month so that I can
pivot the data for trending by month? Do I need to create a new column
titled month, and then use a formula to show the month of each date?

Thanks for any suggestions

Hi Mike

You can do this with the Group command in the pivot table field. It may be a
little hard to find, depending on Excel version.
