Using placeholders for a document that is not a letter, email...

I have created several kinds of generic business documents that I can use for
common situations my clients face. Is there a way I can create placeholders
for my documents using Microsoft Word 2007 so that I can simply type in, say
a company name or a date and have it automatically generated in all the
placeholders I have created on that document?

If so, can I go even further? Is there a way that I can create placeholders
on several documents so that I can type in one company name and have that
name automatically generated on several documents at the same time?

Use DOCVARIABLE fields in all of the places where you want the data to
appear and use a userform to provide an interface for the user to input the
data.
