Hi,
I have a number of users who are currently using MS Project on a shared
directory. This works but is very slow. We want to store the projects on our
SQL server. Initially I tried this.
1.) Created a database as SA
2.) Set up two users with ODBC connection using SA
3.) Tested it to work OK, when one user has logged on and the other tried to
open, it reports the Machine Name and User Name which has accessed the DB
Although this works, we dont want to be using SA account.
So I thought OK, why not use names accounts using Windows Integrated
Security. You can add the accounts and give them DBO permissions but project
refuses to see the tables, even if you give it every privilage in the world.
The same is true of explicitly named SQL accounts.
It would seem that project knows that any other account other than the
creator of the objects cannot use the database. Also, if I create another
explicitly names Domain Account as DBOwner, that account can access the
database but only from the machine which created it.
Does anyone have any experience of this or can offer another solutions.
Regards
