Using Project Server 2007 with SQL Server 2008

Hi, Hopefully this is a good place to post this.

I have spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out how to get the Project
Server 2007 Cube building process to work with SQL Server 2008. I tried
following the instructions here:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd285466.aspx.

Following this script, I am stopped at the point of installing the SQL 2005
Management Objects Collection. When I try to install the SQL 2005 Management
Objects Collection, the install fails due to a “Higher Version†being
present. There is no other version of the 2005 bits installed, so I tried
uninstalling the SQL 2008 Management Objects but got the same error
afterward.

How can I uninstall other versions of the SQL 2005 Management Objects
Collection? (Or whatever else is stopping the install from proceeding)

I have SP1 of both MOSS and Project Server installed on Windows Server 2008.
Everything is on a single box.

Any guidance will be gratefully accepted.

Hi Bob,
When I got this working I had to install the SQL Express 2005 tools so that
I could install the SQL 2005 CU 10 hotfix as per kb956854. This then allowed
me to build the cubes. This was also a single box.

Hi Ben,

Thanks for the reply. I'm not having much luck with this. I first tried
installing SQL Express 2005 Management Studio, but the CU said it had nothing
to update. Then I tried to install the full database engine, but the install
failed beause it couldn't find an msi file for the native client. So I guess
my question now is what SQL tools are you referring to? Do I need to solve
the SQL 2005 setup issue first?

Why is this so hard? MS Please!! some diagnostics, some tools anything...
