This started as a request for help, but we figured it out while writig
this message. So instead - its an FYI.
We've setup a SSL VPN and need some folks to access project server
through it. In IIS, we turned on Basic Auth along with Windows
Integrated auth so that users get prompted for passwords (client doesn't
pass credentials. With that set, we can get the the project server home
page. That works well.
However, If I try to access the Project central site:
http://server/projectserver/Views/PortfolioView.asp?_oid=-1
I get the page but the project view web part doesn't populate and the IE
reports an error on the page. Looking at the details, IE says the
"Safety settings on this computer prohibit creation of business object"
OK - that makes sense. I don't want web sites scripting that object.
So we added the host address of the SSL VPN to the trusted host list on
IE and all is goodness.
