using PWA to update my assigned task

I am exploring PWA functionality. I assigned myself to a task, then visited
the "My Tasks" page. When the view is set to "Test Custom Field update", PWA
shows all of my task's extra custom fields. It allows me to change them. I
save & submit. Next I accept the changes. *BUT* the project plan's custom
fields never get updated in the gantt views. I even downloaded the project to
my desktop Project Pro and did not see any updates to the custom fields. In
PWA I revist the "My Tasks" page and see that my changes are still displayed!

Did I do anything wrong or is this a feature?

You did nothing wrong. You are seeing an unfixed bug in Project Server
2007. Hope this helps.
