Using Quickeys to replace simple Word 2004 macros

This is a followup on a message I posted here a few months ago. It¹s of
interest if you use Word templates a great deal as I do. In Word 2004, I had
several dozen macros stored on toolbars. Each macro opened a template with a
single click. This saved a lot of time compared to the usual process of
command-shift-P to open the Project Gallery, followed by locating the folder
(and sometimes a nested folder) where the template is, followed by choosing
the template and pressing Return.

Word 2008 doesn¹t have macros. My previous message was that Quickeys X3
version 3.2.1 could do this. I have now fully implemented this in Quickeys
it works exactly like Word 2004 macros on a Word toolbar.

Creating each macro involves only one easy step using a shortcut called
³Open Item². Creating a toolbar is also a simple one-step task. To put a
Quickeys macro on your toolbar, just drag it to the toolbar. And the
toolbars can have multiple tabs to categorize your macros and minimize the
amount of window space they use. I currently have about 40 different
templates stored on toolbars this way for immediate access.

There are lots of other ways to use Quickeys with Word 2008.

So, as far as using Quickeys to replace my simple old Word 2004 recorded
macros, I couldn¹t be happier.

This is great. Thanks.

I never found the Word macros as easy to use as WordPerfect, I don't
know what MS was thinking when it removed this function, and Applescript
is a complete mystery to me, so this sounds like a fine solution.
