using <save as> command in any document causes crash of word

problem as above
word 2003 has been used without problems for many months. Suddenly, I get
this problem - only with the <save as > command. The programme immediately
freezes - with ( not responding) in the title bar. I have to exit the
programme and start again. This happens every time I try to "save as" to
save changes to an original document. I have used system restore, uninstalled
and re-installed Office 2003, uninstalled several HP photo progs I installed
just before the problem surfaced - all to no avail. My Norton virus scan
shows nothing!!

I have been using office XP 2002 for several years. Like the problem
below, the 'save as' function suddenly quit working. I have uninstalled
and reinstalled office XP with no avail.

Thank you for mildly admonishiong me for not being up to speed with the
system!!

I now note that Microsoft is about to issue a replacement update for the
troublesome one we are discussing.

Let's hope it corrects the word problems so many of us seem to be suffering!!
