Using SQL Reporting Services with Project Server

D

Dmitry

I was thinking of trying to use SQL Reporting Services to pull data out of
ProjectServer DB and display it for the users. Has anyone done this kind of
thing and willing to share lessons learned?

Thanks

Dmitry -

I can testify that it works very well as I worked with a couple of
developers who did. For people who know the Project Server schema and
are comfortable with SQL, it is pretty easy to do I think. For
example, I was thinking out loud about a report that would tell me all
the custom outline codes and enterprise fields, their system name and
friendly name, their values and their unique IDs. A few hours later,
the developer gave me the report.

Other than that though, I can't help, as I am not a developer. There
is an SRS group and I have seen several posts about SRS and Project
Server in there.

Hope this helped.

Dimitry:

We do this all the time for our clients. It makes for rapid report
development reducing development costs. Go for it.
