Using storebought Office disc instead of what's on the new compute

I didn't want to pay $150 for the Office Home and Student 2007 program that
was on my new Presario so I ordered it from Amazon.

But even though the disk is in the computer and I have put the pre-loaded
Word, Excel, Power Point in the trash, when I enter the product key, I get
the message, "The key is incorrect. Verify that you have the correct key,
and then retype it."

I triple-checked that I typed the key off the box from Amazon but it won't
accept it, I'm guessing because it wants the key from the computer box.

How can I override the installed version and use the one I bought from Amazon?

Putting programs in the trash is not a good idea. You need to uninstall
the program using Add/Remove in the Control Panel. After you've
uninstalled the old Office, reboot and install the new one.

Uninstall all versions of Office correctly, then reinstall from the disk
using that product key.
