Using Tasks Or Timesheet or Both

alex

Hi,

Context:
To record hours, the resources record hours in the timesheet.
1\Record hours
2\Save and submit.
3\Import timesheet in my Tasks.
4\Select the tasks and save and submit.

Request:
I see it's possible to permit resource to record hours directly in my Tasks
by choosing the appropriate option in server settings.
In that case I don't see the difference between My Tasks and My Timesheet.

So I don't understand why I should continu to use the timeseheet and import
hours in tasks before to be submitted.
So before to change the policy in the entreprise, I want to be sure to
really understand the difference between record hours in TS and My Tasks.

What is your point of view?

Best regards,

Alex---

i believe you should try posting on the Microsoft.public.project.server
newsgroup (forum).
but as far as i know, the different is about
timesheet submit to Resource Manager and task submit to Project Manager that
why You will need to differentiate between project managers and timesheet
manager. Generally Project Managers are interested on the task progress of
their
tasks and not other projects or admin time. Timesheet managers on the other
hand are interested if a user has worked 40 hours a week.

for more clearly try to post in Microsoft.public.project.server newsgroup

thanks

Hi Reza,

I think you answer to a part of my request.
In my all project with EPM, the project manager and resource manager are the
same.
I miss the parameter fiscal hours by weeks and that's why I should use the
timesheet but it's general this parameter.
And it's not match my business need because some people work 38.5 hours,
other 40 hours, other 35 hours.

To be sure to don't miss any other points, i post on the project server
newsgroup.

best regards,
