Using template and creating alias names

I am trying to use one of the existing templates for event planning. I have
to link a table from an existing database (members). I'm new to Access and
would like to know if there is an easy way to tell the new database (events)
what the members database calls a field. My problem is that I cannot change
the field names in the existing members database. And when I try to edit the
names in the template (events) to match the members database I never quite
seem to get all of them and I get errors. I thought if I could only tell the
database that MemberName = AttendeeName some where that all my problems would
be solved.

Well at least the naming part. Does anyone have any suggestions for a
newbie.

I'm not exactly sure what you are trying to do, but here is a possible
solution.

Rather than trying to matchup a table from each one, use the "Table Link
Manager" tool. It will "point" to the the table in Members, so that you
don't have to create an alias table in Events. You can read, update, and
delete from that table inside the Event db.

The Linked Table Manager looks like it only helps keep the table linked. I
don't see a place to map the fields.....?????

My problem is that the field names in the two tables are different, although
the data is the same. I'm trying to not have to reinvent the wheel or to
retype in all the data of my members who plan on attending my event. I
cannot change anything in the membership database as the field names are
linked to our web site. This was all in place before I came onboard.

I've just about given up as my time is running out. I need to start
entering data because people are signing up now. Looks like I will have to
retype in the membership info in the events database unless I figure this out
soon.
