Using the Derived Folder

Neil Scott

Hi,

I know that there have been many posts about the derived folders, but so far
i cant find anything the answers to a couple of relatively simple questions
- can anyone help or point me in the direction of a good source of
information :

if i want to publish to a ftp server from within FP2003, how do i get the
files in the _derived folder to appear in the source directory view so i can
publish them

if i publish from fp2003 to a fp enabled server, what settings do i need to
make to ensure that the _derived folder is sent along with all the others.

I have published my site using fp to fp enabled server however the derived
folder has'nt been copied.

thanks for any help

Neil

If you are publish via FP File Menu | Publish Site command either to a FP enable server or a FTP
server then FP will take care of uploading all files and folders within your web as required.

The only time you have to be concerned about uploading certain files and folders is when you are
using a 3rd Party FTP application since it would have no idea what files and folder need to be
uploaded.

Note: The _vti folder are never uploaded to a remote server whether the server has the FP extensions
or not. If the remote server has the FP extensions, then during publishing, the extensions on the
server with create/maintain the _vti folders as needed.
