Using the "Find" feature in Word 2000

When I do a search in a word document using the "Find"
feature, I get this message:"Word has finished searching
the document. The search item was not found"

But the text is there. It happens with any kind of search,
i.e.,wildcard, etc

If you know the text is there and can find it manually, try copy/pasting it
into the "Find what" box. You're bound to be mistyping it somehow. If the
doc has been converted from WordPerfect, you may be deceived by characters
that look like apostrophes or quotes but are actually special symbols from
the WP Typographic Symbols font (this is just one reason a search may fail).
Also note that Find may not find text in text boxes.

Also, check to see if you are searching with Format options. Take a
look under the Find What text box and see if "Format:..." is
displayed. If so, click the "More" command and then click the "No
Formatting" command.

If that isn't it then also check the Search options found when More
options are displayed.
