I have a large long file in which I want to delete all rows that contain certain text. For example, the first column irregularly repeats dog, cat, horse, turkey, dog, cat, lion etc... I want a way to select all the rows containing "cat" and to delete them. Can anyone help me out? Thanks so much.

Try sorting the sheet on the column, then selecting all the rows containing
the data you don't want and deleting the rows. If the sort will screw up the
permanent order of the data, use an extra column to the right and fill in a
linear sequence before you sort. Then you can sort on this column later to
return the data to the original sequence. Then delete the column.
