Using three variables on a 3D surface chart?

I'm trying to build a surface chart with three variables. I want to
plot % margin on the "Z" axis, %share on the "y" axis, and gross
revenues on the "X" axis for a group of customers. I've tried
everything with the chart wizard and it keeps plotting categories and
not values. The chart i'm trying to build is similar to temp/tensile
strength/time surface chart used in the on-line Microsoft Help
section. Can anyone point me towards a more detailed tutorial or
explanation. The on-line help did not say how to do it.
