Using variable resource usage rates

Hello;
I searched for similar posts here but no luck.
I am trying to assign variable resource usage rate to one task.
For example -
Task name : Pouring Concrete
Resource: m^3 of concrete
Rate: 20m^3 per day for first two days, 35m^3 for the next 3 days.

Is there a way to do it without splitting the task? Maybe something with
VBA? It would be great to have Project use resource usage driven tasks (i.e.
pour the concrete at the rate of 2m^3 per hour and see how long it takes to
finish it).

The only way is by having two resources, each with different rates.

I tried this few minutes ago and when I assign different resources to a task
I still have them distibuted along the timeline (duration) so I have 25+30
m^3 each day.
What I would like to see is the difference in consumption rate between two
periods of the task duration (2 days of 20 and 3 days of 35).

Am I missing something?
