Using Visio 2003 org chart in Visio 2002

O

org chart newbie

Using the Visio 2003 trial version, I created basic org charts in Visio 2003
and saved them as Visio 2002 drawing files so 2002 users could open and
revise the charts. This was successful, so we purchased Visio 2003. I refined
the charts and resaved them as Visio 2002 drawings, but now those same 2002
users cannot edit the files. What can I do?

Organization charts created in Visio 2003 can be saved as Visio 2002 and
opened, but Visio 2002 will treat them as plain drawings and not
organization charts. In other words, you lose the ability to perform
actions specific to organization chart such as "drop on top" or relayout.

Visio 2002 and Visio 2003 have their own versions of the Organization Chart
feature. Visio 2003 will upgrade a Visio 2002 org chart, but you cannot go
the other way.
