Using Watermark- Want margins for text to be different

Hi,
I have a MS Word 2004 document in which I've created a letterhead,
using a large watermark. I want to create different margins for the
type and it seems to also move the watermark when I readust the
margins. Any advice?
Thanks,
Crystal

Thanks for the info. I usually design everything in Adobe Programs but
I had a request for a letterhead template for invoicing done in MS
Word using artwork I created.

Hi Crystal-

The Header & Footer layer uses the same margins as the text layer, so its
content is subject to the same constraints - IOW, you can't use separate
margin settings for the H/F and the page(s) to which it applies.

What you may be able to get away with is to stay with the margin settings
you want for the text & go to View>Header & Footer where you can
resize/reposition the watermark to extend beyond the margins. NOTE: This may
or may *not* work depending on a number of variables as Word is not intended
to allow content outside the margins. However, some printers may go ahead &
print it anyway.

Another option would be to set the margins as necessary to accomodate the
watermark and use Left & Right Indents as well as Space Before/Space After
Paragraphs to control the vertical limits of the text.

Either way it may present a hassle - what you are asking for is the
capability of a _page layout_ program, one of which Word is not :)

Another thought occurred. I haven't had the opportunity to test on a Mac,
but it seems to work on the PC (Word 2003) - although I can't attest to this
as a "recommendable" option. I _can_ tell you, however, that it will present
a problem if the document is more than one page:

In the H/F go to Page Setup & adjust your margins to what I assume would be
the narrower measurements. Then, in the text layer - at the very beginning
of the document - create a Continuous Section Break, go to Page Setup & set
the text margins. Make sure that the Apply To: list indicates either "This
Section" or "This point forward", *not* "Whole Document".
