Using Word 2003 as email editor in Outlook 2003

I have both word and outlook 2003 installed but the option to use word as my
email editor is greyed out. How can I use word 2003 as my email editor in
outlook?

Also, when i reply to an email message and i want to edit the original text,
a space is added before and after the place i am editing in the original text
of my reply.

For example:
(Original text in reply message)
The Xbox360 is beter than the PS3.

(Editing original text in reply message)
The Xbox360 is be t ter than the PS3.

HELP!!!
