Using Word as text editor unavailable

OutlookGirl

Hi,
I use MSOutlook 2003. When I go into Tools-Options-Mail Format, I'm not able
to choose Word as my email message editor, nor as my rich-text e-mail editor.
The options are there but greyed out. The drop down box above is available
but changing the type doesn't open the boxes. Any suggestions?

If you're not using Word 2003, then you can't use Word as your mail editor.

What version of word do you have? You need the same version as Outlook.

I'm using Outlook 2003 and Word 2000 SP3... is there a registry entry that I
can change so I can use Word as by default editor of email msg?

Seems like I can change the EditorPreference registry value under
hkey_current_user\software\microsoft\office\11.0\outlook\options

just not sure what value to give it

No, you need the same version of word and outlook for it to work.
