(Yes, I ask permission.)
To record some interviews I do by phone. I've been using a digital
recorder, along with a device from Radio Shack that lets you hook up a
digital recorder to a cordless phone, Recording interviews directly
into Word would have some advantages: namely, the ability to find the
audio for a specific note more quickly.
I tried it out yesterday and Word is only picking up my end of the
conversation. I'm puzzled by this. I simply plugged the output line
from the Radio Shack controller into the audio input of my iMac
instead of plugging it into the input of the digital recorder. It
seems like the data being transferred should be the same.
The Olympus recorder captures everything. Any thoughts about
solutions, so Word can too?
(Having read comments on this board about the unreliability of Word's
recording function, I'm also wondering if the convenience is worth the
risk--assuming I solve this rather big initial problem.)
