Using .wpl music as transition

Hi -

I have a Windows Media Player playlist file (.wpl) that I want to use as the
sound across slides via slide transition. After reading all the posts,
including "a wav runs thru it", I am still having trouble. I know I need to
convert the playlist to a wav, but when I use the various converters out
there, they convert individual songs, and I'm back to trying to get them to
play one after another. For the love of God, is there not an easy way to add
5 songs to a slide show and have them simply play one after another!! Help!

You can use a Windows Media metafile(.asx extension) instead.

Edit an .asx file like the following using notepad:

<ASX Version="3.0">
<ENTRY>
<Ref href = "song1.wma" />
</ENTRY>
<ENTRY>
<Ref href = "song2.mp3" />
</ENTRY>
<ENTRY>
<Ref href = "song3.wav" />
</ENTRY>

</ASX>


Note full path to the song may be needed.

Save it as a txt file with .asx extension. then you can insert it to your
ppt.

Hi Karl,

I can save the playlist as an .asx file right in Windows Media Player, but
still can't insert it into the transition portion as it's not a .wav and when
I insert it as a sound in custom animation, it treats it as video. Did I
misunderstand your directions? Do I need to use Notepad to open the playlist
and turn it into a text file with an .asx extension? Powerpoint really
doesn't seem to like that extension. Thanks.

I just did some more digging and realized that .wpl files inserted thru
Movies and Sound are treated as video, but can still play as audio when set
correctly in custom animation. Thank you again for your help, Karl. Lisa

No. You can simply drag the "video" shape out of the slide area.
