Don't name your local PC disc base web with a domain name with a .com
(as in: My Documents\My Webs\domain.com)
- the dot in the folder is not supported by FP
- rename the folder to say: My Documents\My Webs\domain
Yes
- if you FTP to your PC
- the first time you open the site in FP at say My Documents\My Webs\domain
- let FP convert it to a web
Yes
- you can delete the other web folders in you site named:
cgi-bin
cp
modlogon
webalizer
(you shouldn't FTP them in the future either way)

| Under \My Documents\My Webs --- do I have to Convert to Web? I have FP
| open and select Folders. There are a few domain.com that have index.html. I
| FTP'd from remote to local and can Open now (thank you again) with FP and
| creat pages etc., just like usually except the webs are not using any FPSE
| nor were they Convert(ed) to Web(s). I have static sites that are .htm pages
| and with .jpgs and crossed linked. Am I simply using FP to create pages and
| folders that contain the htm and jpgs? That's it? I am using ws_ftp to
| simply move newly created files and folders (content) from the local to the
| remote? Is that it?
|
| On web sites created and managed by FP there are folders like
|
| .fp
| _private
| _vti_bin
| _vti_cnf
| _vti_log
| _vti_pvt
| _vti_txt
|
| But when I FTP newly created domain info from remote to local, none of those
| files and folders are present. Is that a problem?
|
| The only files and folders in FP located at \My Documents\My Webs using FP
| too open the index.html are
|
| cgi-bin (I don't run any scripts)
| cp (control panel ?)
| images
| modlogon
| webalizer
|
| I'll leave the files on the root
but
|
| 1) can I delete them from the domain.com folder under \My Documents\My Webs ?
|
| 2) do I need to Convert to Web? If I do, am I telling the server something
| about FPSE?
|
| Thanks AGAIN!!!!
