Using XCopy to backup FP Webs??

When using XCopy to backup FP Webs - along with other folders and files -
the FP Web Folders and files don't seem to be backed up - or even
understood - with XCopy. All other regular Windows folders and MS Office
generated files seem to backup/freshen just fine.

e.g. XCopy c:\mydox\*.* d:\mydox\*.* /c /d /e /y

All my files and folders will copy & freshen except my Web folders -
wherever they might be located under My Documents.

Why would that be? Has anyone else backed up their Webs with XCopy lately?
(You have backed up your Webs correct?!!)

Can anyone here help please? Thank you.

You shouldn't use Xcopy to back up a web, you should open it and "Publish"
it to the back up location.

Out of curiosity -- I have used simple copy / paste operations to make backup
copies of webs on occasion and they have always appeared to be fully functional.

I understand publishing is the best way to make backups, but what is the risk
when using copy / paste?

The risk is that one day you'll wind up with a non functional web.

True, you can use Xcopy, or simply copy and paste the root folder to a different location.

But, why not use FrontPage and let it do what it was designed to do??

Or use Windows NT Backup... Installed by default under Windows 2000 Pro, Windows XP Pro and can be
optionally installed under Windows XP Home
