Using XML documents in infopath with foreign characters

I have an xml file that I plan to use as a secondary data source for a form
in Infopath, however, when i try to connect to this file I receive the error

"The form contains XML that cannot be parsed:
An invalid character was found in text content."

The details point to the first non-english character in the file. How do I
enable Infopath to read these characters?

Try again. It works for me. Maybe you need to copy-paste it into your browser.

The link worked, but did not solve the problem. I think I found it on my
own, apparently there are different encoding types that you may need to use
if using an xml document as a source for your form.
