v-lookup function help

I am trying to design a database where I can input all data on one "master"
worksheet and then have it pull automatically to additional cooresponding
worksheets based on a given criteria. However, when I use a vlook-up to pull
the info onto the correct individual worksheets, the rows are being
duplicated when there are non-successive rows meeting this criteria. Does
anyone have any suggestions how to fix?

I have a suggestion... consider asking this question in an Excel news group
or use a nice database like Access rather than a spreadsheet.

just figured there was an easy way to do this that I was missing? apparently

There may be an easy way to do this, but you should ask in an Excel news
group, because we deal with Access database design here.

Which program are you using - Microsoft Access, the subject of this
newsgroup, which does NOT have a VLookup function? Or Microsoft Excel,
which has its own newsgroups, and which does?

Duane's suggestions are on target. If you're using Excel, there may
indeed be a way to do it - but neither Duane nor I are comfortable
answering questions about Excel; the MVP's and other experts over in
the Excel newsgroups would be glad to do so.

Or, if you wish to do this in Access, abandon the idea of using
VLookup and use a Query instead. If you'ld like help doing so, please
post more details on what you're doing and on the structure of your
data. I'd recommend the latter if you're willing to invest some
effort "unlearning" the way things are "always done", since
spreadsheets and relational databases require very different mindsets!

in this Access forum and not Excel. However, I may now switch over to access.
