v.X documents do not open correctly in 2004

Hello,
I manage a small number of computers for a grant project whose purpose
is to write a series of text books. Formatting is of major concern.
The issue is that there are MAJOR problems with migrating to Office
2004 from v.X.

In word, a section of a document is missing when rendered (to screen or
paper). It's a clean cut of a section that spanned two pages. If you
attempt to find text that was supposed to be in the section, it will
pretend to find it, but not show anything. Exporting to a different
format does not help the situation; Office does not show the section of
text, even though other programs do. I'd use the other programs,
except that, as I said, formatting is critical.

In Powerpoint, v.X presentation have extra spaces placed in random
spots, and images appear upside down.

I have seen a few posts regarding bullets here, so I'll refrain from
asking about that until I have investigated those posts.

Before anyone mentions it, yes, I have run Office updater, and have the
latest version installed.

If anyone has had any of the problems mentioned above, or similar
issues, please post anything you have done to correct the matter (or if
the problem is uncorrectable).

Thank you!

I think you will get a faster response about the PPT problem if you ask in
the MacPowerpoint group.
http://groups-beta.google.com/group/microsoft.public.mac.office.powerpoint

And I'm cross-posting this to the Word group. The program specific groups
get a lot more traffic by knowledgeable people, so in general they are
better places to post.

Re the Word problem:

Is the section showing blank, or simply not there? Does this apply to only
one document?

There are various settings in Prefs Print and View that control hidden text,
drawing objects, etc. Have you checked to make sure none of those affect
this section?

It appears to only be one document in particular that has this problem,
but others have had other issues (I'll get to that in a moment). The
section is just simply not there. I have tried every setting, and none
of them have helped.

As for the other documents, they are having issues with text, graphics
and tables going past the margins, and getting cut off at the end of
the page.

Thank you for your assistance.
