Vacation forms AGAIN

Hi,

I know alot of people have asked about this topic but I cant seem to
get past step 1. I've installed the vacation request form, which I
downloaded from the microsoft form samples library. I have published
the forms to the organisational forms library. I chose the form and
sent a request to my manager, but none of the controls like approve or
deny are showing up. I know those approve and deny forms are there but
they are hidden. What am I doing wrong? Exchange 2003/Outlook 2003 SP2.

When you published it, did you ignore the misleading prompt to check the "send form definition with item" box? Did you check the (Actions) page to make sure the Approve and Deny actions are there?

WOW! That was fast! Well I didnt check the box you are referring to. I saw in
many posts where you talked about that. The actions tab says they are enabled
as well.

Try creating a test message with that form and before you send it, make sure the recipient address is marked for rich-text.

Hi Sue,

Making some progress. Now, I published the form. Before I did it through
manage forms in Options--Other. Not sure what's the difference. Anyway now I
can see the buttons Approve and Reject however I now get the error message
"the form you selected cannot be displayed". I know the approve and reject
forms are hidden. That how it was when I downloaded the app from MS. Are they
supposed to be hidden? Is that the reason why I'm getting this error message?

You have other forms associated with the Approve and Reject actions? Where are those forms published? THey must be in the Organizational Forms library or each user's Personal Forms library? (And yes, they are supposed to be hidden.)

Thanks alot Sue. You basically handheld me through this process. I have some
other ideas I want to implement that I read are possible, like updating a
corprate calendar, updating the user's calendar and automatically setting out
of office for those days for the user. Also, what's the best way to deal with
public holidays? And keeping score on the amount of vacation available for a
user. I must ask these because from what I've read you've done alot of this
and I want to approach oit the best way from the start. Thanks again.

Sue, I still get the form you requested could not be displayed message. All
the forms have been published to the organisational library.

I would clear the forms cache and reset the Actions on the original (unhidden) form by pointing to the response forms published in OrgForms. Then increment the version number and republish.

Yes, my book covers most of those topics. The one it doesn't is setting out of office, which would be best done with a server-side application. There's information on that at http://www.cdolive.com.
