Either remove the vacation days from their personal calendars (the
complicated way that I never do), or (my preference as it gives
visiblity to the fact that people won't be there), for each period of
vacation pretend it's a "task" and make a task for that project with the
start/end per the vacation plan. That way they show up on the Gantt. I
also tag a Yes/No field called "Away" and then filter to only show the
"Away" tasks. Post this on the bulletin board or project team web site.
The other way is to not mess with this at all and ensure everyone on the
team puts their vacation away time in their own Calendar (Outlook) so
that everyone can see their plans when then notice they aren't around.
