Valid path issue

I have an Access database created in 97. After upgrade to XP I receive the
following message when I try to open:

\\<path>\<filename>.mdb isn't a valid path. Make sure the pathname is
spelled correctly and that you are connected to the server on which the file
resides.

How do I correct this problem and allow program to run in Access 2002.
