Validate Enterprise Resources, invalid name

Hi guys,

This is a tricky one. I have a user ie. Kimberlee Smith. Her Resource name
is "Kimberly Smith", but her windows user account is kim.smith. I am running
project server 2003 and sharepoint portal 2003 on the same box. I have
project server using the windows authentication. Every time I try to add kim
to the resource pool, I get "invalid name" under the error column. The
resource Name is highlighted in "red". I know that this should work, since I
have 3 other users who have different logins, and resource names. I have
gone as far as deleting her profile and re-establishing it.

If I change the resource name to match the login name, then I get an
entirely new error" Name or Windows Account error. Please help...not sure
where to go from here...thanks
-Andy

I am assuming since nobody responded...either no-one has come across this
problem, or there is no fix for this type of problem?

Hi,

I had a similar situation and I think I've resolved it but I can't tell you
what the real issue was or if we have exactly the same issue.
So in my situation- In PWA I went to Admin; Users and found the user.
I changed the Authenticate user by: to Project Server authentication an
Saved Changes.
I went into Project Pro and brought up the Enterprise Resource Sheet (blank;
read/write). I added that problem resource from Active Directory into the
resource sheet and saved. It worked for me!
I went back in PWA, found him, updated Groups, Categories and Permissions.

I hope this works for you.
