Validate user against Active Directory

I'm trying to find a way to just validate a username and password
that's stored in my database against a username and password stored in
Active Directory. I don't need to integrate the two (since I know that
can't be done), but I would think there'd be a way to just compare the
two user accounts. Any ideas? Thanks!
