I installed Office 2007 on my laptop cleanly-without upgrading from another
version (even though I own Office Standard 2003). In order to fix the
proofing dictionary problem presented with Office 2007 and Outlook Express 6,
I did an install of just the proofing English dictionary from my Office 2003
disk. (saw this as a fix on another site--in case others don't know
apparently microsoft updated their dictionaries in Office 2007 and they no
longer communicate with Outlook Express 6.) Anyway, I am now trying to
download an Add-in for Outlook and when the genuine office validation tool
runs, it tells me that I have to validate Office 2003. How do I do this?
Microsoft's website says that you can force activation through any of the
Office 2003 programs, but I didn't install any of the programs on my system
to do it this way, I only installed the shared proofing component. Is there
any place to go to activate without the programs? I do own a genuine copy of
Office Standard 2003 with the product key printed right on the back. What a
pain it would be if I have to uninstall the stupid dictionary just to
download an add-in for Outlook and then reinstall it. There must be another
way--thanks for any help!
