Value Error XL2003

I have a table which includes several sub-totals and a total of sub-totals.
My first problem is that when a sub-total includes blank cells the formula
tries to put in a batch of unconnected cells. I have got over that problem
for the time-being by inserting zero in the blank cells.

The other problem brings up Value Error message indicating that the formula
includes a value of the wrong data type. I can’t find anything wrong with any
of the relevant cells.

I have been using the same format and formulas for years without any
problems. Is it time to upgrade to 2007 or is there some solution within my
current program?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated
