Value in a cell results in three possible dropdown lists in another

What is the simplest way to accomplish this task ?
(I'm a beginner in Excel with no VBA or macro experience.
The use of Buttons and/or Dropdown Lists would be great.)

If A1 = AM then
B1 = Choice1 or Choice2 or Choice3
But if A1 = AFT then
B1 = Choice4 or Choice5 or Choice6
Otherwise A1 = PM and
B1 = Choice7 or Choice8 or Choice9

(I've been looking for two days now and i honestly think
that i've just gone blind.)

I have a bare bones sample spreadsheet on this which shows this using Data
Validation and controls...no VBA. I'll send it to you if you email me
separately...sometimes it helps to see things working
