Values don't work when i paste values from web into Excel 2007?

When i paste a value or set of values copied from a web (html) page, the
values that are pasted don't work with formulas. For example, if i copy a
row of values from the web and paste into a worksheet, then if i use a
formula such as "SUM(...)", the formula won't properly read the value and
thus, won't Sum the data. I've tried Paste Special, as Values as well, and
have also made sure cells are formatted as numbers.

The problem seems to be that even Paste Special - Values still pastes spaces
into each cell with the numbers. For example, the actual cell bar with the
number has data like this "3,455 " with a few spaces after the number. this
space(s) also doesn't allow you to use the shortcut button to
increase/decrease decimal places, further reiterating that Excel 2007 isn't
recognizing as a number. Does anyone else have this problem and/or a
solution? It seems to pick up the spaces in between columns when grabbing
data from a table on the web, so try copy more than one value (grab 2 or 3
values at a time) if you try to replicate. I never had this problem in Excel
2003.
