vanishing cursor and insertion point

Can anyone tell me how to stop the cursor vanishing while
I am typing if I stop typing for a few seconds. I am
using Word 97 and the same effect is ocurring with Excel
and Outlook Express. This has only been happening for the
last few months and I not aware of any major change to the
software other than Windows up dates. It's driving me
mad, (it has not happened while typing this message as yet)
I have asked around locally but nobody has a solution as
yet awaiting a solution with bated breath. PETER

Hi Peter,

Sounds like your graphics driver is having a problem. Try
replacing/updating it and see if that helps.
