Vanishing dropdown menus

HELP! I have seen numerous posts regarding "vanishing"
drop down menus.However, I can't seem to locate any
replies with resolutions!
No one in my tech dept has been able to help. My pull
down options just vanished. I have reinstalled Office
2001 twice on my iBook to no avail. I have tried various
things with preferences, system, etc. What's the deal? If
anyone has a solution to this problem I would greatly
appreciate a reply to my e-mail address noted above.
