Vanishing emails

I have used Outlook for several years without a problem. I have now moved to
Windows 7 64-bit and find that my older emails are randomly disappearing
i.e. sometimes everything more that a few days old will vanish and other
times it will let me keep them for several weeks. As far as I can tell every
instance of 'Archive' is switched off. I have also been unable to track down
the missing emails.
For the time being I have changed over to WLM but do not like it for many
reasons, one being that I miss the calendar reminders down the side of my
screen and a Hotmail reminder is of no use whatsoever. My ultimate would be
Outlook with Newsgroups.
I would be very grateful for any help that can be given and thank you in

I've never seen an actual instance of messages "randomly disappearing" in
Outlook. There's usually a pattern and the usual issues are an incorrect view
setting or a filter hiding the message, the incorrect migration of the
messages from one Outlook instance to another, the interference with Outlook
by a misbehaving add-in, the presence of a hand-held device connecting to
Outlook, or the simple misinterpretation by the user what he or she is seeing.
Is there any additional information you can share that may isolate the
problem?
