various word problems

D

David Madsen

Hello,
I have two basic problems that are driving me nuts.

1)When I use my Dell notebook, which runs Word for Office
XP, I get a delay after entering a letter before the curso
appears. This becomes very irritating, it
slows my writing and drives my eyesight crazy. When I
transfer a document to my desktop which runs Word 97,
the cursor delay problem goes with it.

2) On my Dell (word for Office XP), the home key doesn't
move the cursor the the beginning of the line.

The help program and microsoft support have been unable to
give me any advice. I hope someone out there can.
Thanks

David

I can't answer (1), but as for (2), go to the General tab of Tools | Options
and clear the check boxes for both items that refer to WordPerfect.

Problem 1 is usually caused by a poor graphics driver or a corrupt printer
driver. Check on the Dell support site and see if there are new drivers for
the graphics card. Then check with the printer vendor's site and see if they
have a new pointer driver too.

Of course, you may just have a corrupt normal.dot. Have you tried starting
Word in Safe Mode (Start, Run and type in winword /a and press enter).
