Unregistering and reregistering hhctrl.ocx solved the
problem of not displaying help files, but now in VB I get
the MSDN October 2001 release - I believe it should be the
a newer release. Is this a known/correctible problem?

October 2001 was the last version of MSDN that works with Visual Basic. They
changed the MSDN format in January, 2002, and the new format doesn't work
with VB.

Not quite sure why you're asking this in a newsgroup for configuration of
Access, the database product.
