hi there

i have recently began a project creating an outlook add in

i am using vb6 to create this, can vb.net be used? it needs to b
bakward compatible with outlook 2000.

also, if vb6 is used, then will future versions of outlook not suppor
a vb 6 add in, or will all future versions suport it.

would really like feedback before we do much more work on the add in

, bty, do you need additional software to develop add ins in visua
studio 2005?

We are also working on add-in development using both VB and .NET,
thought at start it seems you have more easy options in VB (and rightly
so) but when u accustomed with .NET, it looks more simple and easy to
handle.
Therefore i will suggest for using .NET for future. ans especailly from
the VS2005 they have added more support for it and for starters , it
will be a good point to go on.
As for as the support is concern, if you look at the model, upto Office
2003 , we have to interact with the COM so it is not possible to drop
the support for COM (as even the .NET has come of peak now , still VB is
considered as premier lango to work in COM though dont forget mighty C++).
As for as new outlook model which will ship in LongHorm/Vista, i am
doubted and can be answered from any MS geek.
